BMW M 1000 RR is a high-performance sport motorcycle that has been a top choice for riders who crave speed and power. One of the key factors that contribute to its impressive performance is its engine.

M 1000 RR engine is a water/oil-cooled 4-cylinder with 4-stroke in-line engine, featuring four titanium valves per cylinder and BMW ShiftCam technology. Its bore/stroke ratio is 80 mm x 49.7 mm, giving it a capacity of 999 cc. The engine has a compression ratio of 13.5:1 and electronic fuel injection with a variable intake pipe. It also has closed-loop 3-way catalytic converters to comply with EU-5 emission standards.

The M 1000 RR engine produces a maximum power output of 156 kW (212 hp) at 14,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm. With such impressive numbers, the bike can achieve a maximum speed of 306 km/h. The engine is powered by unleaded super(premium) fuel, with an octane rating of 95-98 (RON). The engine also comes with an alternator that provides 450 Watts of power and a lightweight lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 12 V/5 Ah.

The M 1000 RR engine is paired with a constant-mesh 6-speed gearbox with straight-cut gears and a multiplate clutch in an oil bath. It also comes with BMW Motorrad DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) to ensure optimum power transmission and stability during acceleration. The M 1000 RR engine’s chain drive is 525 with 17/46 teeth.

The engine is mounted on a bridge-type frame made of cast aluminium, which also serves as a load-bearing engine. The M 1000 RR’s suspension is adjustable with an upside-down telescopic fork with a diameter of 45 mm, adjustable compression and rebound stage, and adjustable preload. The rear suspension features an aluminium swing arm with full floater pro, compression and rebound damping adjustable, and adjustable preload.

The M 1000 RR engine comes with M Carbon Wheels, which are lighter than conventional wheels and improve the bike’s handling. The front wheel features a 3.50 x 17″ rim with a 120/70 ZR 17 tire, while the rear wheel has a 6.00 x 17″ rim with a 200/55 ZR 17 tire. The bike is equipped with a twin disc brake at the front with M Brake 4-piston fixed caliper and a 320 mm diameter and a single disc brake at the rear with a 2-piston fixed caliper and a 220 mm diameter. It also features BMW Motorrad Race ABS Pro (part-integral), which allows riders to choose from various ABS Pro settings for different riding modes.

The M 1000 RR engine has a length of 2,073 mm, a height (excl. mirrors) of 1,197 mm, and a width (excl. mirrors) of 848 mm. The bike’s dry weight is 170 kg (M Competition Package 169.8 kg) without the battery, and its unladen weight, road-ready, fully fuelled, is 192 kg (M Competition Package 191.8 kg). The bike has a seat height of 832 mm and an inner leg curve of 1,845 mm. The M 1000 RR engine comes with a usable fuel tank volume of 16.5 liters, with a reserve of approximately 4 liters.
